PARTNERSHIP AND NETWORKING PROJECTS

In the list below, the KST did not receive funding but availed the opportunity to its network of 374 (43% female) field facilitators to support execution of the following projects:-

Supporting and Strengthening Community Resilience in Tanzania (SSUCORETA) (2021 – 2023)
This project is being implemented by IITA and is supporting the recovery of priority food crop value chains from the effects of COVID 19 as well as strengthening community resilience, markets, and trade development in Tanzania. Significant KST contribution is that IITA has used a network of 123 (44% female) KST field facilitators (who are also Kolping Family members). They have trained 6,758 (3,599 women; 3,159 men) farmers in good agronomic practices, climate smart agriculture practices and agribusiness. These farmers have improved climate adaptation practices and access to market.

Building an Economically Sustainable Integrated Cassava Seed Systems II (BASICS II) (2020-2024)
The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA), Tanzania Official Seed Certification Institute (TOSCI) and Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute (TARI) are collectively spearheading the initiative. In Tanzania, the project has trained 750 Cassava Seed Entrepreneurs (CSEs) specialized in cassava seed multiplication and about 45% of these CSEs are Kolping Family Members. Each CSE is managing about two ha of improved cassava seed and average profit is USD 1,000 to 1,500 per ha.
